About Credu

Credu is a charity which gives support to Adult Carers and Young Carers throughout Powys and Ceredigion, and Young Carers throughout Wrexham, Conwy & Denbighshire. We operate through Outreach Workers who are supported by local Team Leaders and a First Point of Contact and Central Support Team with a small office operation base in Llandrindod Wells.  https://www.carers.cymru/

Our purpose is to help all young and adult carers to enjoy a good quality of life and wellbeing as they define it, be recognised and valued and have choices, voice and influence.

We support Carers to
1.    Enjoy a greater sense of wellbeing and good life chances
2.    Feel more connected to other people
3.    Feel listened to, valued and respected in their relationships with services that matter to them and to be more able to shape the services that impact on their lives.

We are a person-centred, strength-based and outcome-focused organisation.  We aspire to be carer-led not CEO led.  The role of the CEO is to enable a culture of deep listening to the needs and aspirations of carers and staff and to work across our teams, helping them to make a bigger difference for carers of all ages. We are deeply committed to bringing to life the spirit and objectives of the Well-being of Future Generations Act and the Social Services and Well-being Act.

Our carer-led work is founded on the practice Collaborative Communication – a systematic approach to deep, empathic and compassionate listening – that connects people to their needs and supports them to take the actions that matter most to them.

We employ 50 full and part-time people in the five Counties that we operate in. We also work in collaboration with a community of volunteers and active-citizens.  Credu is a proud part of the Carers Trust network and has excellent partnership relationships with the Local Authorities and Health Boards and a range of charitable foundations whose funding make what we do possible.

We enjoy a secure financial position with Local Authority income sources secured until Summer 2027. You can learn more about Credu in our practice handbook, by following this link: Link: The Credu Way Practice Handbook
